The Mountain House was first constructed in the 1960’s utilizing massive beams and timbers salvaged from a mountain saw mill, but it fell into ruin in the 1980's. Its massive two story Post and Beam construction was then lifted from collapse. It remains a “work in progress”…
Reconstruction of the Mountain House began in 2004, and with an urgent need to dismantle a huge exterior deck -eroded to the point it was pulling the home off its deteriorated foundation and into collapse. The "building site" was doubled in size on the steep hillside, and a new fresh water system and well were soon required. Restoration became a monumental task and requiring a new foundation, structural reinforcement of the two-story beam structure, replacing all electrical, Central A/C systems, and a new septic system; not to mention the refinishing work and installation of dozens of windows and doors. A crew of laborers worked nearly around the clock for almost two years, and today the Mountain House is reborn. We're proud of this accomplishment and now want to share this beautiful Lodge with you. |
